Matthew graduated with a degree in Orthoptics from the University of Liverpool in 2013. He worked in hospitals across the East Midlands in the UK before completing his postgraduate diploma in Vision and Strabismus at the University of Sheffield in 2017. Following this he took up a post specialising in post stroke visual rehabilitation in Manchester before moving to Ireland in 2018. He currently works in the HSE in County Kilkenny and County Carlow.
As an Orthoptist Matthew specialises in eye movement and visual development disorders in children and adults including amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (squints) and diplopia (double vision).
He also carries postgraduate master’s level qualifications in Low Vision from the University of Sheffield and Glaucoma advanced practice from Aston University.
Maria is a Clinical Optometrist in Eyecare since 2022. She graduated from Technological University Dublin 7 years ago. She worked as a community Optometrist in Dublin before joining our team here in Cahir.
She is currently undertaking a diploma in Advanced Eyecare and has a keen interest in expanding her skills and knowledge to provide the best care.
